Engineer Malcolm Harper and assistant Carl Harper were on site at TX State Univ. in San Marcos, TX to record the Fall Semester Bob Cat Band. Dr. Kyle Glaser directed the session with associate directors Matthew Hotzner and Robert Lopez assisting. Reelsound’s portable package consisted of IZ Corp RADAR STUDIO – 96KHz, Rupert Neve RMP-D8 DANTE mic pre’s and Night Technologies PRE Q 3 pre’s. Microphones for the outdoor session: Sanken CMS-2, AKG-414EB, B&K-4006, Sennheiser 441, Beyer 201’s, Crown PZM’s and Rupert Neve RNDI-S DI Box.

Freedom Over Texas Broadcast from Houston

ABC/KTRK/Disney presented “Freedom Over Texas”. featuring “Jo Dee Messina and Russell Dickerson” live for Houston’s annual 4th of July broadcast. The performance went out to the greater 3.5 million homes and 12 Disney/ABC markets.
Reelsound provided the broadcast mix with Malcolm Harper engineering assisted by Greg Klinginsmith, Mason Harlow and Carl Harper.

Recording Austin City Limits PBS 50th Birthday Bash

Fifty years to the date Reelsound Recording Co’s mobile audio services captured Austin City Limits 50th Birthday Bash Concert. The Bash featured “Willie Nelson and Asleep at the Wheel” with Austin’s skyline as the back drop on the outdoor stage of The Long Center for the Performing Arts. Harper stated “It’s an amazing anniversary to have recorded audio for the 1st pilot show and to be recording 50 years later with Willie Nelson and Family.” Terry Lickona and Jeff Peterson oversaw production for Lickona Vision with Gary Menotti directing video. Reelsound’s audio team Greg Klinginsmith, Mason Harlow, Tyler Merriman and Malcolm Harper handled audio assisted with KLRU’s audio broadcast staff David Hough, Sachiko Robertson, Arun Venkatesh, Artemis Lesgaux and Audio Supervisor

Recording “George Strait” Record Breaking Concert

Malcolm Harper’s Reelsound audio truck captured the largest one day performance of 110K fans at the “George Strait” Texas A&M University’s Kyle Field. Reelsound unit rolled on site 3 days before the event for rehearsal’s setting up 64 channels of Rupert Neve RMP-8 DANTE mic pre’s on stage via fiber to audio truck. The event was recorded on 72 tracks of IZ RADAR STUDIO. Harper and Chuck Ainlay

Capturing TX State University Orchestra session in Immersive

Owner/ Engineer Malcolm Harper recorded the Texas State University Orchestra with a microphone placement for Immersive Audio. Utilizing a Decca tree set up of B&K 4006 and AKG 451EB omni microphones with AKG 414EB outrigger omni’s and AKG 414 EB omni’s within the orchestra. Rupert Neve RMP-D8 pre-amps were in the signal chain recording to both DANTE (ProTools) and IZ RADAR STUDIO DAW’s at 96KHz 24bit. The world premiere of “Penta” by composer Derrick Skye was on the performance. Other pieces “Knoxville Summer of 1915, Op. 24”, composer Samuel Barber featured TX State Facility Suzanne Ramo, soprano. The orchestra’s finished the concert with “Vetrate di chiesa (Church Windows) by Ottorino Respighi. Assisting Harper were TX State Recording Arts students

2022 4th of July “Freedom Over Texas”

Reelsound’s mobile audio truck was back in action for ABC/Disney’s 2022 Freedom Over Texas 4th of July broadcast. Malcolm Harper mixed music audio assisted by Greg Klinginsmith, Mason Harlow and Caleb Mabrey. The broadcast was directed by Rick Herring with Jason Martin as A1. Fetured artist were “Bianco Brown”, “Sawyer Brown” and “Clay Walker”.

2022 Juneteenth 150th Celebration

Reelsound’s mobile audio truck and crew were in Houston to audio mix and record the Juneteenth 150th Anniversary in Houston at Emancipation Park.
Performers were “Cool and the Gang”and “The Isley Brothers”. Mixing audio for the broadcast was Malcolm Harper assisted by Greg Klinginsmith and Mason Harlow.
